Conventional stone sealers are absorbed into the surface and used to slow the penetration of liquids. They do not prevent acidic substances from making direct contact with acid-sensitive stone.
NanoShield HD works differently. The transparent film sits over the stone, providing physical separation between the surface and the food, drinks, oils, cosmetics and daily activity above it.

No. NanoShield HD is optically clear and extremely thin.
There’s no haze, cloudiness, shine, or plastic appearance.
The stone reflects light naturally, and edges, seams and cut-outs remain visually clean. Most people say it still looks exactly like marble — because it does.
Will NanoShield HD change the feel of my stone benchtops?
No. The surface feels smooth and natural, just like the stone itself. There’s no rubbery or coated feel, and nothing that changes how the benchtop is used day to day.
What about heat — can I place hot items on NanoShield HD?
NanoShield HD is engineered to manage thermal stress from normal kitchen use. It has been tested up to 200°C and did not bubble, lift, or distort under everyday conditions. As with any stone surface, we still recommend using a board or trivet under extremely hot cookware.
Will the film make my stone look artificial?
NanoShield HD is optically clear and extremely thin. It is designed to allow the stone's colour, detail and veining to remain visible without a hazy, cloudy or heavy plastic appearance. Professional edge and cut-out finishing is an important part of achieving a discreet result.
Is NanoShield HD the same as stone sealer?
No. A conventional sealer penetrates the stone and generally slows the absorption of liquids. NanoShield HD sits over the surface, creating a physical barrier that helps prevent food, drinks, oils and other substances from making direct contact with the stone.
What does it protect against?
NanoShield HD is designed to protect against staining, etching, light scratching and everyday wear. That includes exposure to common acidic, oily and strongly coloured substances such as lemon juice, red wine, tomato-based foods, curry powders, spices, sauces, coffee, tea, berries, cooking oils and cosmetics.
Can it be installed over existing stains or etching?
The condition of the stone must be assessed first. Because the film is clear, existing damage may remain visible underneath it. Where required, the stone can be professionally restored before NanoShield HD is installed to preserve the renewed finish. We can assist with this too.
Will NanoShield HD bubble, crack or peel?
NanoShield HD is acid and alkali resistant, tested with solutions left on the sample surface for 24 hours. It did not crack, bubble or peel, and this forms part of our warranty.
Will the adhesive damage my natural stone?
NanoShield HD uses a stone-safe adhesive system designed to provide secure adhesion without harming suitable stone beneath it. When replacement is eventually needed, removal should be completed professionally.
How long does it last?
NanoShield HD is designed to last for up to 10 years in suitable residential settings. The actual service life will depend on the installation, surface, amount and type of use, and how it is cared for.
How long does installation take?
Many residential projects can be completed in one day, with the surface available for normal use the following morning. Larger projects or stone requiring restoration may take longer. We will explain the expected timing in your quotation.
How do I clean a protected surface?
Routine cleaning is straightforward. We provide aftercare instructions following installation, and even provide you with a bottle of film safe cleaner to keep your film in the best condition.
